I see you!

Young children think that if they can't see you then you can't see them. Our teens feel the same way about texting. The seemily anonymous words have a face and meaning behind them. Without facial expressions and voice inflections, the words can take on many meanings.

Faceless words

We teach our children to think before they speak. We teach them to outline before they write. What do they do before they text? The abbreviations combined with the faceless words can have dangerous consequences.  The abbreviations can be misread. Emphasis on words or phrases does not have a voice. How can we teach our children to speak before they text to see how their words might be heard by the at the other end of the line?
